Uncover Taichung’s Irresitible and Affordable Hotpot

Embark on a sensational culinary journey in Taichung as we dive into the heart of “Go Taizen,” a hidden gem renowned for its tantalizing Southeast Asian Flavours Hotpot. After hearing the buzz on various blogs, we couldn’t resist the allure of this Southeast Asian hotpot haven. Despite a minor reservation hiccup, our visit to Go Taizen unfolded into an unforgettable adventure, promising the vibrant and aromatic delights of Southeast Asian flavors right here in Taichung.

Simple Ordering Process

One of the unique aspects of Go Taizen is its straightforward ordering process, allowing you to tailor your hotpot experience to your preferences. Here’s a quick breakdown:

  1. Choose Your Soup Base: With a tantalizing array of 13 soups inspired by South East Asian flavors, including Tom Yum, coconut chicken, laksa, and bak kuh teh, we opted for a normal seaweed soup and a bak kuh teh base.
  2. Select Your Main Course: The menu boasts 10 main course options, including various meats and seafood. We decided on 2 beef slices and 1 succulent pork belly, a choice that would later prove to be satisfyingly generous for two.
  3. Pick Your Staple: A choice of 6 staples, which includes minced meat rice, regular rice, instant noodles, and udon, is offered. We selected glass noodles and instant noodles to complement our meal.
  4. Add Sides: For sides, we ordered a vegetable platter and a delightful assortment of hotpot balls, including a unique yam-based variety.
  5. Enhance with Meats and Condiments: Finally, you have the option to top it all off with two vegetable platters or one of three meat choices, including duck, pork, and chicken, as well as a ball platter and bean curds. We went for the meat platter and rounded out our meal with a variety of condiments.

The Hotpot Experience

The moment our hotpot arrived, we were greeted by the inviting aroma of our chosen soup bases. The bak kuh teh base, while not exactly reminiscent of the peppery Malaysian Klang variety, was flavorful and comforting. It provided a perfect canvas for cooking our meat and other ingredients.

The meats, consisting of two beef selections and pork belly, were of high quality and incredibly generous in portion. Each slice was tender, flavorful, and a true highlight of our meal.

The sides, including the vegetable platter and various hotpot balls, added a delightful variety of textures and flavors to our experience. The yam-based balls, in particular, were a unique and tasty addition.

However, there was a slight disappointment as we didn’t quite receive the “free flow of vegetables and condiments” as promised by some blogs. Vegetables were part of the sides that needed to be ordered separately, and the condiments were not adequately replenished during our visit.

Pricing and Conclusion

With the 2-pax set priced at 1088 NTD, Go Taizen delivers an affordable hotpot experience that shines with the essence of Southeast Asian Flavours Hotpot Taichung. Despite the minor reservation hiccup and condiment discrepancies, our satisfaction soared as we left this culinary haven.

In conclusion, Go Taizen stands as a beacon of Southeast Asian hotpot excellence in the heart of Taichung. Its diverse array of flavors and ingredients promises to tantalize your taste buds and ignite your passion for culinary exploration. If you find yourself in the area and yearning for a distinctive hotpot adventure, Go Taizen beckons. Just remember to navigate the ordering process with care and temper your expectations for condiment abundance. Happy hotpotting!
