After a long flight and the chaos of collecting luggage, discovering Perth’s best pub dining at The Last Local Canning Vale was a delight. Just around 2 PM, this hidden gem near the airport welcomed us with its surprisingly spacious, bright, and comfortable interior. With only one other table occupied, we had our choice of seating, setting the stage for a memorable meal.

Feasting @ Perth’s Best Pub Dining: The Last Local

We were a group of five (1 senior, 1 child, 1 sick individual, and 2 ladies) and decided to sample a variety of dishes. Here’s how our meal unfolded:

Butter Chicken (12 pieces for $20 AUD): The butter chicken had an intriguing flavor profile. While not particularly buttery, it was cooked with Indian spices, offering a subtly sweet taste without overwhelming heat. The chicken was tender and enjoyable, making it a hit among our group.

Creamy Mash Potato ($12 AUD): This dish was a standout! The mash was smooth and slightly buttery, providing the perfect comfort food for everyone, whether they had a hearty appetite or not.

Beer Battered Fish and Chips ($29 AUD): The fish and chips arrived with two generous pieces of crispy, golden fish. The fish was perfectly cooked—crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and fresh. The accompanying salad, with cucumber, cherry tomato, red onion, shaved parmesan, rocket, and a vinaigrette dressing, was a refreshing complement.

400g Black Angus Ribeye with Grilled Prawns ($56 AUD): The ribeye, served bone-in, was impressively large. Despite the substantial portion, it was cooked to perfection with a slight char and tender, flavorful meat. The addition of grilled prawns was a delightful touch, and the dish was accompanied by the same fresh salad as the fish and chips.

Draft Ginger Beer: A special mention must be made of the draft ginger beer. It was refreshingly cool and had a crisp ginger flavor that made us crave more.
