Discover Tokyo’s Most Exquisite Sukiyaki at Legendary Imahan

Tokyo, where tradition meets modernity, boasts some of the world’s finest culinary experiences. If you’re searching for the Best Sukiyaki Restaurant in Tokyo, look no further than Imahan. Nestled in the lively Takashimaya Times Square, this legendary restaurant has been serving up exquisite sukiyaki for over a century. Founded in the historic district of Asakusa, Imahan’s legacy is steeped in grandeur—from its origins in a building as magnificent as the Palace of the Dragon King to the golden pots once used to prepare its famous sukiyaki. It’s no wonder Imahan is celebrated as a must-visit dining destination in Tokyo.

With such a rich history, it’s no wonder that Imahan continues to draw crowds today. We decided to visit the restaurant in the late morning around 11:15, hoping to beat the lunch rush. However, even with our early arrival, the restaurant was already a full house, and we found ourselves waiting for about 15 minutes. Clearly, Imahan’s allure is as strong as ever.

Food @ Best Sukiyaki Restaurant, Imahan

Once seated, we ordered three sets for our group of four—two ladies, one senior, and one child: the Meibutsu Steak Don (3,190 yen), Amiyaki Steak Gozen (4,510 yen), and High Quality Beef Sukiyaki (9,020 yen).

Let’s start with the Meibutsu Steak Don, a weekday lunch special that is truly worth every yen. This set includes a salad, sirloin steak on rice, soup, and pickles. Despite not being labeled as high-quality beef, the steak was impressively flavorful. Cooked to perfection, the meat was charred on the outside while retaining a succulent, melt-in-your-mouth marbleness. For a weekday lunch offering, this was a surprisingly luxurious experience.

Next up was the Amiyaki Steak Gozen, which was also an exceptional deal. This set featured a delightful array of dishes: an appetizer, steamed egg custard, sashimi, salad, beef, rice, and dessert. Every component was well-executed, with the beef, once again, being the highlight. Like the Meibutsu Steak, the beef was cooked just right, showcasing the skill and consistency of the chefs at Imahan.

The Star @ Best Sukiyaki Restaurant, Imahan

The star of our meal, however, was the High Quality Beef Sukiyaki. This set was served with appetizers, a rice set, and dessert. A waitress came by to cook the beef at our table, ensuring that it was done to perfection. The beef, which came in two generous slices, was incredibly tender and rich, melting in the mouth with each bite. Accompanying the beef were pumpkin, mushrooms, leeks, and glass noodles, all simmered in a delicious broth that absorbed the flavors beautifully.

Final thoughts about Best Sukiyaki Restaurant, Imahan

In conclusion, our meal at Imahan was nothing short of exceptional, with every dish showcasing the mastery that has earned it the reputation as the Best Sukiyaki Restaurant in Tokyo. The combination of exquisite food, attentive service, and rich history makes Imahan a dining experience that stands out in this vibrant city. If you’re looking to savor authentic sukiyaki without overspending, this restaurant is a must-visit.
