On our recent summer trip to Stuttgart, Germany, we were guests at the Achtender Hotel. Intrigued by whispers that Achtender ranks among the best steak restaurants in Metzingen, we couldn’t resist diving into its culinary offerings. On our first German night, we ventured downstairs, eager to experience this steak lover’s paradise for ourselves.
Best steak restaurant: Ambience
Upon entering, we were enveloped in a cocoon of warmth and serenity, a testament to Achtender’s inviting ambiance. The décor, infused with elements of rustic charm, creates an intimate setting, perfect for a relaxed dining experience.
A glance at the menu left us spoilt for choice. Achtender’s selection of steaks is nothing short of impressive, offering classic cuts such as fillet and ribeye. But what really piqued our interest were the more exotic offerings, like the Black Angus beef. However, we decided to give it a miss this time around in favour of experiencing the more traditional taste of beef.
Best steak restaurant: The Food
Given that we were a party of three and still grappling with a touch of jet lag, we chose to go with three dishes for the evening:
- Burrata (16.8 Euros) – A fresh and creamy starter that set the tone for the meal.
- T-bone Steak (37.8 Euros) – This dish was a symphony of flavours and textures. Cooked to absolute perfection, it delivered a delectable mix of tenderness and char, allowing us to savor the inherent ‘sweetness’ and juiciness of the cut.
- Dry Age Iberico Pork (34.8 Euros) – Another masterpiece from the kitchen, the Iberico Pork was succulent, rich, and brimming with flavour.
It’s noteworthy to mention that the absence of the famed Angus beef from our order did not deter our gastronomical journey. On the contrary, the dishes we selected stood out in their own right, satisfying our palates in every conceivable way.
In summary, when in Metzingen, Achtender stands out as one of the best steak restaurants you shouldn’t overlook. Beyond its renowned steaks, the menu boasts a diverse array of delicacies, from pastas to burgers, all waiting to be savored. We eagerly anticipate our return to relish what we missed on this trip.
