Easy to reach via Didi, Wu Xian promises a captivating journey through fresh sashimi, delectable oysters, and generous portions that make it a must-visit for Japanese food lovers.
Ambience and Service @Wu Xian
Upon entering Wu Xian, we were greeted by a cozy, bright, and sleek environment. The restaurant is just the right size, offering an intimate atmosphere with several private rooms for those seeking a more secluded dining experience. The staff welcomed us warmly with hot towels, setting the tone for the exceptional service we would receive throughout the evening.
The Feast Begins @ Wu Xian
Wasting no time, we promptly ordered sake and sashimi. The first course, a variety of sashimi, did not disappoint. We indulged in thick slices of prawn, salmon belly, octopus, scallops, and sea urchin. Each bite was a testament to the freshness and quality of the seafood, with the prawns standing out for their remarkable freshness.
Oyster Delights
Next came the oysters, presented in three delectable styles: raw, BBQ, and cheese baked. While all were delicious, the raw oysters stole the show with their creamy, plump, and springy texture.
Sushi and Maki Rolls
The maki rolls and sushi were equally impressive. Generous portions filled with ample ingredients rather than just rice made for a satisfying experience. The unagi roll, topped with caviar, prawn roe, and mayonnaise, was a highlight, offering a delightful combination of textures and flavors.
BBQ Extravaganza
Our BBQ selections included kalbi, wagyu beef cubes, and prawns. The meats were tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked, allowing the rich flavors of the wagyu beef to shine through. Cheese baked scallops were a heavenly treat for cheese lovers, and the pan-seared foie gras was decadently creamy and sinful. The pan-fried cod fish was also noteworthy, generously portioned, flavorful, and cooked to perfection.
Starters and Sake
To aid in digestion, we enjoyed some lighter starters such as chuka hotate, chuka wakame, and boiled tako wasabi. These refreshing dishes provided a pleasant contrast to the richer items we had consumed.
The unlimited sake included in the package was a major highlight. It complemented the meal perfectly, enhancing the overall dining experience.
Final Thoughts About Wu Xian
Wu Xian Japanese Cuisine is undoubtedly one of the best Japanese buffets I’ve tried in China. The quality of the food, combined with excellent service, makes it a fantastic value for money. The warm hospitality continued until the end of our meal, with fresh hot green tea and another set of warm towels.
I highly recommend Wu Xian for anyone seeking an outstanding Japanese dining experience in Beijing. It’s a place I will definitely visit again.
