Picture this: It had been far too long since my last visit to Basilico, the charming Italian buffet restaurant nestled in the heart of the Conrad hotel on Singapore’s famous Orchard Road. But the stars aligned with Restaurant Week, and I couldn’t resist the opportunity to immerse myself in a memorable Basilico Italian Buffet. Join me on this delectable journey celebrating the end of PSLE in style!
Basilico Buffet Review: The Starters
As I stepped into Basilico, the familiar ambiance welcomed me with open arms. The restaurant’s centerpiece stole the show, drawing me in with its stunning display of culinary delights. The focal point was the impressive selection of cold dishes, and among them, the stars were undoubtedly the diverse array of buffalo cheese and tomatoes.
Tomato lovers would find themselves in paradise here, with a spectrum of tomato varieties on display, from cherry tomatoes to yellow cherry tomatoes, camone tomatoes to roma tomatoes. Each tomato possessed its own unique sweetness, and personally, I found the roma tomato to be the standout. Paired with the cheese selection, which boasted a variety of textures, and some succulent grapes, this was the perfect way to start the meal
Basilico Buffet Review: The Main Course
Basilico’s buffet also featured a tempting selection of hot dishes as the main course. Highlights included the succulent roasted lamb, the perfectly grilled chicken, and the flavorful baked sea bass. What piqued my interest even more was the inclusion of Chinese dishes like steamed chicken and fish, along with a comforting double-boiled lotus root soup. The latter, in particular, left a lasting impression, and I couldn’t get enough of its soothing flavors.
Basilico Buffet Review: The Desserts
A meal at Basilico wouldn’t be complete without exploring the dessert offerings. Every sweet treat on display was a delight to the senses. From the decadent cheesecakes to the rich chocolate tarts, and from the exquisite ruby peach panna cotta to the luscious cherry panna cotta, it was a dessert lover’s dream. However, the true stars of the dessert section were the heavenly tiramisu and the indulgent rum & raisin ice cream.
To sum it up, Basilico truly shines as a culinary haven for aficionados of Italian cuisine. From their delectable cheeses and flavorful tomatoes to their exquisite desserts, it’s a gastronomic journey worth savoring. And when you factor in the unbeatable value of the Restaurant Week promotion, offering a weekday lunch buffet at just $48 per person, the experience becomes even more irresistible. If you’re craving an unforgettable Italian feast that will transport your taste buds straight to the heart of Italy, look no further than Basilico. Whether it’s a special occasion or a casual meal, Basilico Italian Buffet at Conrad Singapore Orchard promises an exceptional dining adventure.
